How to Increase Resistance:
Equip gear with resistance affixes (found most often on Jewelry: Amulets and Rings).
Socket gems into armor pieces (e.g., Topaz for Lightning Resistance, Ruby for Fire).
Drink Elixirs, which provide +5% to Diablo 4 Items All Resistances.
Certain Legendary Aspects, Uniques, and Paragon Board nodes offer resistance bonuses.
How They Work Together
Armor and Resistances stack multiplicatively, meaning they apply in sequence rather than just summing together. Here’s how it looks in simplified terms:
The enemy hits you with a Fire attack.
If the attack has a physical component, Armor reduces that portion.
Resistances reduce the elemental portion.
Barrier or cheap Diablo IV Items Fortify absorbs the remaining damage depending on your buffs.
This stacking behavior means that if you neglect either one, you create a major survivability gap in your defenses. For example, a Sorcerer with 10,000 Armor but no resistances may survive a werewolf’s slash but die instantly to a Cold AoE blast.
